Astara Releases True Companion on August 11th, 2022
Audiences will recall Astara’s 2021 release “Alone Tonight.” This summer he follows up with the new single, “True Companion,” a modern interpretation of Marc Cohn’s classic of the same title. Astara’s song builds on the emotion of Cohn original, providing an energetic arrangement and an enhanced, euphoric chorus. In his words, “I was drawn to this song due to the compelling nature of the story. The song speaks of a relationship across a lifetime–from the very first meeting to the final moment shared together.” He continues, “A lot of modern music has gotten away from the narrative, but the story itself is just as integral to the song as the melodies.” Indeed, Astara’s new record leans on the folk tradition of storytelling while still prominently featuring hooks and melodic motifs. Ultimately, the summer record provides something more than the usual fare: an upbeat arrangement and infectious hooks paired with a compelling story.
